The viewing and homegoing service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at John T. Rhines Funeral Home, 3005 12th St., NE, Washington, D.C. The viewing will be held from 11:00am – 1:00pm, and the homegoing service will immediately follow at 1:00pm. A memorial service will be held in Staten Island, NY at a later date to be announced. David Linwood Hughes was born in Washington, D.C. on November 30, 1952 to his loving parents, William and Dolores Hughes. Though his passing was unexpected, the family finds comfort in the cherished memories, laughter, and unconditional love shared over his years on earth. He is much loved and will be forever remembered by all of his friends and family.

Thoughts
Sitting here , still trying to process that you are no longer here. Though I know the tears and heavy days are coming, right now I will choose to rejoice! You are in a place where there is no sickness, stress or strife. You are resting in the arms of the One who created us all.
I will forever love you, David Linwood Hughes, my brother and my friend. I am so glad that we had the chance to spend time together over the Christams holiday ...and just have fun! I will always remember your smile, which would light up the room, and the many conference calls me, you and Steve shared, not really talking about anything in particular, just laughing and enjoying each other.
I find peace in knowing that YOU are at peace. In the end, that is all that matters. I will see you on the other side.

It still seems so unreal that you're gone David. Though I haven't seen you in so many years, I'll never forget the secret crush I had on you as a young girl moving to SI aftering losing my mom. The last 2 years were Memorable, I found Myself at the bottom of both Love and Pain. I have learned much, I have not given up on Love, nor have given up on GOD due to this Pain. You are better now Dawud, just wish I could hear You say it. I will miss You Brother, I am sure You feel the same.
